I Styled: Andi Eigenmann Feature On Manila Bulletin July 6, 2011

Rebel with a cause

"My being rebellious was always within reason, and my reasons were not stupid or childish. It was for people to know that I was responsible and independent enough, which was what my parents wanted me to prove in the first place.”

MANILA, Philippines — With piercing eyes and a devil-maycare attitude, Andi Eigenmann has this very intimidating air about her that some people may mistake as intentional haughtiness, making the young star seem unapproachable or plainly put, a snob. A second look would prove that it’s neither bad attitude nor a mere veil to protect her privacy — the girl just has spunk and she’s definitely not afraid to show it.

“I don’t like it when people try to step on my beliefs. I have my own principles and I live by them,” Andi says, while meticulously watching over how her make-up was being done for the shoot. “I don’t let any one rule my life, I make decisions for myself.”

“Before I entered showbiz, a lot of the things I liked doing involved only myself. They didn’t require much company,” she says.

The self-confessed late bloomer might have gone through the awkward stage that every teenager grows out of, but her unconventional family also contributed to why she was very different from the rest of the girls in school since day one.
It was her not-so-normal familial set-up that developed her strong character and independent nature.
“There were times when I would be insecure, but I’m a very happy-golucky person so it never really showed. I would always be more hyper than I was insecure—more a big ball of energy than I was shy,” Andi quips.

Growing up with celebrity relatives, Andi was never a stranger to the spotlight, but she wasn’t the type who wanted it perennially on her as well. In fact, Andi admits to being an introvert when she was younger.
The Neil Gaiman fan also confessed to being quite the rebel when she was in high school.

“I think everyone goes through that, but I was a rebel with a cause. My being rebellious was always within reason, and my reasons were not stupid or childish. It was for people to know that I was responsible and independent enough, which was what my parents wanted me to prove in the first place,” Andi explains.

It was when her brother, Sid Lucero, broke into the independent film industry that Andi started thinking about pursuing a career of her own. When she finally did, it was both a surprise and a realization of an unspoken expectation
in the family.
“I was lucky enough to be given ‘Agua Bendita.’ It was truly a blessing. I got more than I what bargained for,” she says.
"It wasn’t about entering showbiz, it was about becoming an actress,” says Andi, who shares that her dream roles would be along the lines of Maria Clara, or any character in a period production, preferably situated in the Spanish era.

Pretty baby

Despite all the projects that have come her way, there are things that Andi admits to missing about being a “regular” girl, which is harder to go back to now that she is expecting her first child.
“Of course I miss hanging out…being able to plan — just having a definite schedule. Before, whenever I wanted to do things for fun, I actually could. I miss being able to block an entire week, but the thing I miss the most is school. Nothing beats being a student, it’s the easiest part of life,” she says, adding that when she entered showbiz, the absence of her friends and family made her realize how much strength she gets from their presence.

"Pursuing a career in this business is really something to think about,” Andi says, while she fondly remembers all the things she missed about her life before. She shares advice with those who want to break into the business and promises that the road they’ll be taking will be as difficult as it is gratifying. “Hindi masarap ang buhay ng artista dahil artista siya, dahil ‘yun sa marami siyang pinagdinaanan. Kung gaano ka tamis, ganun din ‘yung pait,” she muses.

One of the things that ticks her off is the stereotype that actors are pushed into the business just because their profession honeycoats their lives with so-called glitz.
“Akala nila glamorous? It’s not so simple. We earned that. We work for that. If some people find school difficult, all the more will they be challenged by choosing to pursue a show business,” she defends.

Now that the actress has a baby on the way, it’ll give her the opportunity to take the break that she wants. While she is going to put her acting career on pause, she hopes to get back to work as soon as possible so her plans still
go smoothly.
With a good head on her shoulders and the ability to exude awesomeness so awesome that it borders on scary, Andi definitely has a lot more in store for her.

Today marks Kylie Minogue's first ever visit to Manila!
Yes, It's Kylie Live In Manila tonight!

...and since I will not be able to watch it (because of my effin work!). I decided to look back and give one of my favorite Pop Artists a little tribute...

A look-back at Kylie's memorable looks and album covers (Over the years)

Kylie is a gay icon because she's a survivor! She's able to stay in the music industry throughout the years with her songs that celebrate love and life! She may not be as famous or as big as Madonna, Mariah, Beyonce, or Lady Gaga, but she has her own throne. She's a queen! There is only one Kylie and it sucks that I don't get to see her concert here!

Ed Westwick In The Metro (Endorses Penshoppe and Covers Metro Society Magazine)

You know you love him!
---------------------------------

3rd week of May when a rumor circled around Twitter, that Ed Westwick will be coming to Manila to do a Photo Shoot for one of my favorite local RTW Brands, Penshoppe!

Fans and Non-Fans of the Actor (from Gossip Girl) were quick to respond positively about this rumor. Up until an official statement from PR Asia Worldwide, during the last few days of May, came out confirming the said rumor (click here to see the official statement). Followers of the actor and of Penshoppe became more and more excited!

A month after the rumor materialized, countless billboards of  Ed can be seen allover the Metro.
Ed Westwick still remains to be (for me) the best young-hollywood celebrity to ever grace a local brand.
(So far!)

If you think that's the end of it... you're wrong!
Ed Westwick is featured on Metro Society Magazine this month (July 2011)...
Here are some pics of the feature by Metro Society!

I Styled Raphael and Marvin Kiefer for Manila Bulletin June 29, 2011

Brotherhood
--------------------------------------------

Brothers and self-confessed adrenaline junkies Raphael and Marvin Kiefer are standing up for the rights of the youth to self-expression through sports and the arts…
By JASER A. MARASIGAN

MANILA, Philippines — Brothers Raphael and Marvin Kiefer have always had a passion for adventure, learning, and experiencing new and different things.

Raphael, the supermodel, has learned every sport that he could – from basketball, baseball, football, table tennis, and mixed martial arts.
Marvin, the model/actor, has made hobbies out of breakdancing, river rafting, skateboarding, wall-climbing, jujitsu and parkour. He is also a backpacker, trekking to unlikely places, and immersing himself in indigenous customs.
These true blue adrenaline junkies are also environmentalists and vegetarians, traits that they acquired while helping their parents maintain an organic farm in their native Cagayan de Oro.

But away from the limelight and their athletic life, the two assume the roles of mentors to kids, teaching art appreciation and practical science to street kids and orphans through Kasamahan Project, a social project in Mindanao initiated by their brother Gabriel almost two years ago.
Raphael and Marvin are continuing what their brother has started, overseeing the Kasamahan Project, since he moved to Switzerland to start on a new project involving disabled children.

“We teach kids every Saturday. We have art classes and hold art exhibits. We give sketch pads and teach them how to use clay, crayons, watercolors, etc. We show them paintings of famous artists. We also paint walls around the village to make it colorful. We give instruments to certain musicians in the village,” relates Marvin.

Being environmentalists, the brothers put importance on environment and the physical and mental health. Thus, the emphasis on different physical activities such as games and sports, as well as learning about nutrition and healthy

eating.
The brothers agree that improving one’s physical health allows the mind to develop properly. “We also try to build up a sport different from basketball. We gave out footballs, we lend table tennis equipment, volleyballs, nets, and sepak takraw. Now in our village, kids play football in the afternoon. That’s what we wanted to give kids and the youth, something else,” Marvin adds.
Raphael and Marvin felt that it is their obligation and mission to stand for the rights of every young person, to express their feelings through creativity, to help develop their social understanding and well-being, and to teach them about their history and culture. So that one day, they may be able to influence others and the generations that will follow.

“Young people need to feel that their ideas are important and possible to realize. This gives them a sense of responsibility to themselves and others,” explains Raphael.

Feeding the mind
The Kasamahan Project hopes to build an institution in the future where there will be classrooms and a library which will focus on local literature to help revive and develop local culture.
Another plan is to build an orphanage so it can cater to more children. The project is currently home to three children and has facilities for up to 12 more.

“Some are struggling but they all go to school. We focus more on feeding the mind. So they can do it themselves and help themselves. We actually have three orphans, we adopted them, two 10 year olds and one 16 year old. We support them through school. We’re taking care of them the past year now. We want to build an orphanage and a school. We don’t have funding for that, so we start here,” says Marvin.

“As much as we want to replicate the project in other places, we’re not financially capable of doing that. So we start small, where we can, in our village,” adds Raphael.

“Everything I do goes to what I want. From the social work of my brother, through the acting, I use my fame to try to help that. Everything, in a way, works together. My jobs work together. Whenever you help other people, it is food for the soul. It makes you feel better. It’s not something I want to stop,” Marvin ends.

To those reqesting to have these billboards removed, F*** you!! lol
---------------------------------

Who would've thought that Bench (the country's leading RTW brand) can get these hot Athletes
to pose wearing only their undies.

Last Sunday, a lot of tweets circled the twitter world about the new
Bench Body billboard in Guadalupe Makati.

True enough it was worth the buzz. And yes, it is a traffic hazzard!

5 Full Billboards of The Philippine Rugby Team aka Philippine Volcanoes lined up beside the Pasig River very much seen if you take the MRT Northbound Trains!!

Jake Robrigado Letts (Fil-Australian), Ned Stephenson (Fil-Australian),
and Patrice Ortiz-Olivier (Fil-French) lead the racy underwear photos of the Philippine Volcanoes! (It's as if something is really going to explode upon seeing their ads)

If you think the hotness ends there, you are totally wrong.

On the Southbound lane of EDSA right after Guadalupe MRT, you'll find a billboard of The Azkals team Captain, Aly Borromeo!!
Lying on a matress, armed with six-pack abs, black Bench Body briefs,
and hints of carefully selected remains of unshaven body hair!
