Last month (June) reminded me that it's already halfway through the year. Aside from that, it marked a month long celebration of Pride where people are invited to party on the streets wearing white. But most importantly, it reminded me of the unending cry of LGBT people for equality.
June 27 - 30, 2011 are the dates Thomson Reuters LGBTF (Lesbians, Gays, Bisexuals, Transgenders, and their Friends) in collaboration with Thomson Reuters Manila (My employer) celebrated the Pride Month in a different way. Instead of having the usual Gay Pride Themed Party, Thomson Reuters LGBTF organized and launched an art exhibit entitled "Exploring the Art of Individuality."
What a good way to celebrate Pride than to show some of the talents of various Thomson Reuters Employees
(who are members of the LGBT community) in Painting, Make Up, Writing, Photography, and Fashion Styling.
Here are the entries showcased in the art exhibit...
Lei Ponce (Make Up Artist) showcased some of his fabulous
Avant Garde make up works.
Luise Cajayon (Photography) entry entitled "Coming Out"
Kelly Valencia (Photography) entry called "Know Yourself"
Onil Villacorta (Painting)
Angelito Jao (Writer) submitted his poem entitled "In The Beginning" /
Kris Oliver Panganiban (Multimedia Artist) submitted a collection of his different festive
looks entitled "Drag Racer"
and my entry....
James Patrick Diche (Fashion Styling) submitted pictures of some
of the celebrities I styled for the past year.
The art exhibit did not only showcase the talents of Thomson Reuters LGBTF members. It also validated Thomson Reuters' advocacy to promote diversity and equality within and outside the company.
